With an interesting sound that comprises powerful vocals, infectious melodies and impressively well-written songs, Californian rockers Hydrovibe certainly have the capacity to become a major success in the not too distant future. Recent full-length Nothing Left To Lose is proof of the band’s talents; a thoroughly enjoyable array of imposing anthems of various styles, this record could potentially propel Hydrovibe into the consciousness of rock fans everywhere.

There are a number of ways in which Nothing Left To Lose is a triumph, but the area in which Hydrovibe perhaps excel to the greatest extent is songwriting. The fifteen tracks on display each contain remarkably catchy melodic hooks which are destined to remain in any listener’s head for considerable periods of time. The likes of the impassioned, well-structured Evil Side, as well as the glorious title track, are just two of the many examples of the supremely infectious nature of this album.
Furthermore, Hydrovibe must also be applauded for the diversity of the songs on Nothing Left To Lose. The balance between fast, adrenaline-fuelled anthems and more chilled, ballad-like offerings is plain for all to hear, but while the more steadily-paced tracks such as Liberate and Shallow Grave are undoubtedly very good, there is no question that Hydrovibe truly come into their own on the more pace-oriented songs. The Devil Comes Disguised as Friend, arguably the album’s best track, is the most effective representation of this. An extremely well-crafted combination of pace, precision and passion, this rather quirky piece of work will unquestionably become a firm favourite for many Hydrovibe fans.

One of the main strengths of Nothing Left To Lose, and indeed one key factor which sets Hydrovibe apart from many bands of a similar style, is the ability of vocalist Heather St Marie. It is impossible to deny that St Marie is a very talented singer, and her unique classic rock-infused vocal style adds an important dimension to Hydrovibe’s overall sound that other bands perhaps lack. She puts in a particularly impressive performance on opening track Fifteen Minutes, and this standard is maintained effortlessly throughout.

The vocalist is, however, backed by an equally formidable band, and the riffs of Mat Dauzat also stand out on a number of tracks. Many of Dauzat’s riffs are seemingly inspired by nu-metal, but the guitarist succeeds in making this style sound relevant, and when combined with the uncompromising rock ‘n’ roll nature of the overall sound of Hydrovibe, the result is a fascinating combination of styles which may not seem similar, yet blend together expertly. The fascinating riffs on Savior and Disconnect Me are ones to listen out for, as well as the southern rock-based styles of the irresistibly catchy Fame.

When listening to Nothing Left To Lose for the first time, it is apparent within an instant that Hydrovibe are onto a good thing, but upon closer analysis of the album, the potential extent of this band’s appeal seems to become increasingly widespread. Fans of a variety of subgenres of metal, straight-up rock ‘n’ roll, or even melodic pop music will enjoy Nothing Left To Lose, and it is this wide-ranging charm that will surely see Hydrovibe venture from strength to strength in years to come.

Really awesome rock and roll with rippin guitars. For some reason it reminds me of Scorpions meets Kingdom Come with a little Muse and perhaps Heart? elements of al that and much more of our favorite Rock and Roll of Yesteryear.

Nothing Left To Lose has 15 incredibly well written tracks that you will love. The songwriting is superb and if you are into mainstream rock and roll music, this is the album for you. The band is led by vocalist, Heather St. Marie who does not scream as much as I would have expected for a rock and roll album. That’s a good thing. This is not your typical rock and roll band. The lyrics are so honest and have heavy meaning behind them and the emotions are portrayed so well through Heather St. Marie. The order of the tracks is also interesting as there is so much covered in each track! Each track has its own unique meaning. The album starts out with the song, “Fifteen Minutes” discussing fame and ends with the track, “Liberation” with few lyrics but fitting for closure of the album. While this is not the typical music I listen to, the lyrics will captivate you.

‘Nothing Left To Lose’ is quite possibly one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. I can’t stop listening.

Hydrovibe’s debut album features over 50 minutes of melodic, heavy rock ‘n roll. From the party rock anthem “Fame” to the bittersweet “Contagious” to the title track “Nothing Left To Lose” Hydrovibe take you on an emotional journey… and leave you wanting to start the album all over again.

I have been a Hydrovibe fan for a very long time. This is a day that I have been anxiously waiting for for years. And I was definitely not disappointed. Nothing Left to Lose lays it all out on the table. Great energy, amazing guitar riffs (Mat Dauzat is a guitar god), intense vocals, and a pounding rhythm section to back it all up. Everything you would ever want out of a great rock album without all of the corporate garbage that comes with major label releases. $10 for 15 songs from a band that truly cares about their fans is beyond worth it in my opinion.

Serious Rock ‘n roll for real music fans! Hydrovibe proves that hard work really does make a difference… and this band is one of the hardest working rock bands out there today. This album takes the listener on an emotional ride encompassing every feeling the human heart can experience, and each song is cleverly crafted – from lyrics to guitar riffs/solos to solid drum and bass foundations. This is an album that will stand the test of time and hold its own with timeless heavy-hitters.

Wow! I’m not normally a fan of female vocalists, but this girl WAILS!!! I’m highly impressed! Great songs, great riffs, and damn great vocals. Kudos for NOT sounding like all those other damn female-fronted bands that bore me.

I just find a great chemistry with the band members, that shines in the music! Matt plays kick ass guitar, and I love it! Powerful music, and Heather just blows you away with her vocals! Hopefully Hydrovibe get the recognition they deserve, and they become a household name here in the UK, and then they get their asses over here to play some gigs!

This is a PERFECT record… “Nothing Left To Lose” takes you exactly where you want to go at all turns. It is driving, hard hitting, and yet layered with sophisticated melodies that lift you up and out of this heavy human atmosphere. Heather’s lyrics and voice push out the pain and fill you with hope. Every instrument is perfectly played and placed with lead guitar that makes no apologies and well… takes you exctly where you want to go. This album was a long time in the making. Buy it. You will hear every minute and feel every drop of sweat.

Amazing album from an Amazing band!! Hydrovibe’s debut album “Nothing Left To Lose” completely blew me away! Track for track you can’t go wrong, from the first song “Fifteen Minutes” to the last song “Liberation” the band keeps the sound fresh and the music inspiring. Sure the band has had a hit before, with “Killer Inside from the SAW III soundtrack. However, it will be this album and these songs that will carry the band further in their already blossoming career.

Hydrovibe is one of those rare bands that revives your faith in a wounded (if not dying) genre. While mainstream rock and roll music is quickly becoming a watered down, generic and unimaginative version of what it used to be there are independent groups like Hydrovibe who still understand what makes good music and who genuinely give a damn about what they’re putting out there.

How do I describe the evolution of Hydrovibe’s live show? From the mere asthetics (they’re not afraid to move) to the updated, spit shined versions of the songs they’ve been playing non-stop the past two years, they’ve grown into an act too big for the small bars and venues they currently play. You can literally see their raw energy take over the stage and crowd. You wouldn’t be surprised if the roof were to separate from the building and disappear into the night sky when Heather unleashes a scream, while the chords from Mat’s guitar shred through the smokey bar room air, all while Eliot and Phil’s thunderous bass and drums stampede into the audience. It’s easy to forget you’re in a local bar instead of a sold out arena.

There’s something to be said about a band who can travel the country and play unreleased songs to a crowd singing along to every word as though they were already classics. Favorites from their “Killer Inside” EP have become bigger, class=”quote_author”er versions of themselves and deliver something new and exciting even to the most loyal of fans. They’ve also added two covers to their set list, which I won’t reveal here lest I spoil the surprise for those who intend to attend a show next year. Hydrovibe make each song their own without butchering them like many artists mistakingly do when trying to pay homage to an influential band in their life, and they’ve become seemless additions to their nightly sets.

Most people I ask to accompany me to a Hydrovibe show have their reasons for not coming. Whether it’s legit (like they have to work) or they’re just unwilling to make the trip, it’s a loss on their part. It’s hard to find a band you’d have to pay $25, $35, or even $50 per ticket to go see that would put as much heart and effort into what they do as Hydrovibe. An unsigned band found their way onto a major motion picture’s soundtrack and wound up shooting a video for it that was featured on the DVD release. An unsigned band is out-playing the larger touring acts night after night out on the road. An unsigned band earned their place on a booking roster along side major label acts like Papa Roach, Buckcherry and Drowning Pool.

With their first full length LP coming early 2009, you can only expect big things to happen for Hydrovibe. I hope more of you will join me next year when Hydrovibe hit the road again. I wouldn’t be suprised if it wasn’t too much longer before the illusion of a sold out arena becomes the reality of a sold out arena.

Now for hottest band of the night. Not only was their music hot but so was Heather, their front man…err…front woman.

Hailing all the way from L.A. Hydrovibe brings an incredible mix of Fly Leaf and Kittie but they are not your typical female led rock band though. With their great single “Killer Inside” (featured on the Saw 3 soundtrack), Hydrovibe really put the exclamation point on their set. The highlight was their cover of Rush’s “Tom Sawyer”. I’ve heard several covers of this song but Hydrovibe really nailed it.

Heather made a deal with us that the more we got into it, the more she’d get into it which wasn’t bad at all. I expect to see this band on a headlining very soon. Check them out at Hydrovibe.com and look for their new CD soon!

Lil Nubi at Royal Flush Magazine

Hydrovibe is a band with solid bass and drums, intricate guitar work on top of solid power chords, surprising chord progressions and a surprisingly abrasive yet addictive lead voice. Heather St. Marie sounds like she could scream death metal for hours and not need lemon and horehound tea afterward. She reminds me of a female Lajon Witherspoon, lead singer of Sevendust. Note to Walls of Jericho: St. Marie shows how to sing rough and raw without resorting to Cookie-Monster vocals. ANYWAY… the lyrics she sings are relevant to guys and girls, unlike those other girl-fronted bands.

Joe Hadsall at The Joplin Globe

When it comes to vocals the stand-out track is “Killer Inside” by Hydrovibe featuring actress from the movie Shawnee Smith. The vocalist’s Heather St. Marie voice differs from all the screaming, yelling and soaring guys on the CD, making them sound mediocre. In spite of the popular opinion about male vocals in hard rock and metal, “Killer Inside” makes you feel sorry there are not too many female-singing bands. Marie has a powerful deep voice, performing anger with hysteria. The aforementioned Smith, who admits to be a Hydrovibe fan, performs some cameo backup vocals.

I am a huge fan of this band Hydrovibe! They’re from Louisiana and its female lead singer, Heather St. Marie, who is just stunningly beautiful, has the biggest, most powerful voice you’ve ever heard. I mean she’s a superstar. And there’s never been a female artist on any of the Saw soundtracks. Now there’s one female voice on the Saw soundtracks.”
